Interesting article! I agree that the hype around Instagram like are way too extreme. I think that within the next few months many influencers will forget about it and really embrace this new change.

Yep, totally! It’s likely that something else will emerge to shock everybody and they will have forgotten all about having no Instagram likes.

Are there any other social media platforms you think should follow Instagram’s lead in removing likes?

I don’t think there is need for this kind of change on any other apps, I think Instagram is based purely on looks and aesthetics, whereas Facebook and Twitter are more about connecting with friends and family, so no, I don’t think there is a need to remove likes from Facebook or anywhere else.

I 100% agree, i also think it’s a great idea! do you believe instagram should go further by hiding the number of followers etc?

If removing the numerical value of likes on a photo doesn’t solve the problem, then maybe the number of followers should be removed too! After all, why would followers matter when Instagram is about sharing and viewing images/videos?

How about… we all just get the heck off Social Media? it’s a nasty, toxic world!

While that is an unlikely suggestion, you’re right about social media being toxic in several ways, however I think it is up to the user to ensure that they are using social networks in a way that is beneficial to themselves, but we can’t expect young teenagers to be responsible for this, so I think Instagram has taken a step in the right direction in terms of protecting them. Would you agree?
